Welcome to the Sacramento County Land Use Regulation Library

This website contains the most up to date versions of land use regulations applicable only in the jurisdiction of unincorporated Sacramento County, unless otherwise specified.

To get started, use the navigation pane on the left (or top right on mobile), search for an ordinance through search box (or button on mobile), or press CTRL+K (or ⌘+K on MacOS or iOS) to start searching.

Do these regulations apply to my property?

Section titled “Do these regulations apply to my property?”

Regulations on this website only apply to the jurisdiction of the unincorporated areas of Sacramento County, unless otherwise specified. Unincorporated areas are all areas in a county outside of incorporated cities.

To check the jurisdiction of a property, go to our General Map, type in your address or Assessor Parcel Number, and take a look at the “Jurisdiction” (not Postal City/Zip!) value on the left hand side of the screen under “Parcel Details” and “Property Information”.

This field will show what jurisdiction you will need to contact for planning assistance. If it says “Unincorporated Area of Sacramento County,” regulations on this website apply. If it says the name of any City, you will need to visit the websites of the listed city for their applicable land use regulations.
